Any housing designed exclusively for seniors, usually 55+ years old, who need little assistance with daily living and want to live in an active community setting that provides opportunities for socialization, free from worries about daily chores like house maintenance, cooking, or housekeeping.
Assisted living communities typically have residents experiencing certain illnesses or ailments that need extra help with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and staff available 24 hours a day to provide care, meals, medication management, bathing, dressing, housekeeping, and transportation to doctor’s appointments.
Assisted living that has received special licensing by the state to care for those with Alzheimer’s & Dementia. Residents have been diagnosed with dementia and need a larger staff that offers more supervision and that has specialized training to care for residents with dementia. These communities also include security features to keep residents safe.
Residential homes that offer personalized service to a smaller group of adults who need more individual care. Some Homes are licensed by the state and receive oversight, and some are not.
CCRCs offer several types of housing options, all on the same campus, and residents can move from one level of service to another as they need increasing levels of care. Residents can live in one location for the rest of their life and don’t need to worry about arranging for future care needs.
Long-term care for older adults with severe or debilitating physical or mental illnesses who are unable to care for themselves and who need a licensed physician to supervise their care well as 24-hour nursing care.
